When you first discovered that you were pregnant, your doctor probably told you to start gaining weight.
Gaining weight is a normal part of being an expectant mother. When you are eating for two, you have to work really hard not to gain any weight. Now that your baby is born, you probably don't want to live with your weight gain. You probably want to get your pregnancy back. Keep reading to learn three ways that you can get your figure back after you have had your baby. All of these tips will help you get back to your old figure really fast.
Drawing In: This is a great exercise for women who have just given birth because it helps them lose weight, helps their posture, makes their metabolism better and strengthens your core, abs and back all at once! For this exercise, get down on all fours and put your hands right under your shoulders. Pull in your abs while making sure to keep your spine and neck in line with each other. Take a breath in through your nose and then, as you breathe back out, pull your belly button up and in--all while keeping your spine as straight as you can. Twelve of these equals one set and a good workout for your abs and core needs to be at least three sets long.
Pilates: You might think pilates is slow but it will help you burn over two hundred calories every hour that you do it.
That's quite a lot of calorie shedding with very few movements. You can find some videos online or you can buy a DVD (or a book) that will teach you a few moves that you can do while your baby is asleep. Laying on your back with your knees bent is one of the best post natal exercises you can after you give birth if you want to lose weight. Put your hands behind your head and take a deep breath in. Then, breathe out as you contract your abs and lift your head and shoulders off the floor. Then extend your arms while keeping your palms down and lifting your legs into a 45 degree angle from your body (while keeping them straight). Inhale for five beats and, while you do, pump your arms in a rhythmic manner. Then breathe back out for five beats. Doing 100 of these a day will help you get into shape really fast!
Walking: In 2007 Harvard did a study that proved walking for just a half an hour every day can lower the chances of a woman keeping her pregnancy weight. Women who participated in this study lost eleven pounds and most of the women had lost all of their pregnancy weight by their babys' first birthdays. Therefore, you need to go outside and get some fresh air! It doesn't matter when you walk, but if you are going to be pushing your baby in a stroller, then make sure you are going when the weather is baby-friendly.
It is important to make sure you take lots of fluids with you. Do this every single day and you will drop your weight really quickly.
These are all exercises that you can do while your baby takes a nap. Even if your only option is to do lots of shorter exercises during your day instead of doing a single, long workout it is far better to do that than not to work out at all. You can lose your baby weight if you really want to. Luckily, if you do these exercises often enough, you will reach your goals!
